hail stones!

We had gobstopper-sized hail stones falling at great velocity in Christchurch this evening… the pen in the picture is illustrative – as far as I know, no pens were falling from the sky. Ducks, maybe – pens, most unlikely! I was about to run upstairs to close windows when the noise stopped me – there are two skylight glass windows upstairs and I was worried that they would smash in and cover me with glass. It reminded me also of the sound of the 2010 7.1 earthquake 2 years to the day… kind of creepy!
